We got snow! Lots and lots of it. Lucy is in Golden Retriever snow frolic heaven. What ya see here is just the beginning.

Sadly, we also have a butt load of ice under it which makes driving horrid for every one but me cuz, my little Scion ROCKS OUT in the snow! And laughs at the ice.

I'll take more pics as the day progresses. Probably with me in it shoveling. (not good)

For those of you who wondered where I've been. (nobody) This is part of my MIA.
For 6 years I have been trying in vain to convince Bob to allow me to redo these stairs. I personally find them dark and foreboding. Too Amityville Horror for me. I like brighter, more happy things.
Thanks to Milky's relentless picture sending and my gift for talking until an intelligent grown man is reduced to tears, begging for blessed unconsciousness, he has FINALLY agreed and given me the green light.

I have this much sanded. And I'm gearing up to sand down the rest.
I'll be posting more pics of this (if) anyone is interested.

And finally I must confess to a serious addiction. I have discovered the game Sudoku. Found an awesome web site where you can time your puzzles and see how you rate among other players.

In an attempt to improve my score of 97% behind everyone else that plays I am hereby and heretofore requesting all dumb people please go to that site and play so I will look better.
I thank you.

Oh and...here's the link

love the staircase.

That stair case is going to be fun to see how it turns out. Sure is a lot of work until then.

Ah the snow. You are getting about what we are, maybe a little more. Luckily the streets are clear but most of the side walks, look out. Lukily you will not be driving your Giligan's Island car on the side walk... or do you?

I think Lucy needs to visit her friends at Tim Horton's!

The stairs look good so far, but I can see you missed a few spots. ;-)

What is a haint crabby?

Why aren't you just priming and painting?? I'm so lazy, I'd never sand all that stuff...YIKES, no wonder your head is full of sawdust.

....you know what I mean.... AHAHA

I want that rug.

In your will, MilkMaid gets my fabu southern rug.

jodes, that staircase is a booger and a half to get furniture up and down. I think it'll be really cool lookin though when I finish it.

Barman, we have several inches of snow and now we have freezing rain coming down. Good way to save on gas cuz you can just slide in where ever you wanna go. LOL!
Annnnd, Lucy got to go to Horton's yesterday for her birthday. It was a very big deal. They gave her a whole bag of stuff.
I can't wait to finish these stairs. When they're done I have to tear up the floor in here so we can lay the new one. OY!

G, You do know these are before pics, right? LOL! But when it's
finished. it's gonna rock out!

BT, it's those missed spots that are giving me a headache. LOL! Man oh man. What did I get myself into? And there is another open stairway on the other side that leads to the basement I have to do.

Milky, a haint, aint a living and it and it aint a dead. so it haint either. TAAAAA DAAAAAA! I should soooo write for Websters.

Milky, I could kiss you! I'm not kidding. Pucker up. I don't have to sand????? I did not know that! My fingers are raw from sanding.
Ahhhh, sweet blessed relief!

That rug was a deal! In fact, such a good deal I bought one for every room on the first floor cept the kitchen. 68 smackers for an 8 by 12 area rug. Now THAT is sweet!
You should have seen my car that day. I was so loaded down with rugs I looked like rug salesman.
The colors in it are awesome with my wood and furniture.

Quick, call a publisher.

Holy moly! You're a brave woman! Can't wait to see the stairs after you're done. Wowie!

Send some snow MY way!!!

` It erased my comment no! I said something about combining Sudoku and Sanding and then global warming.

` Oh, yeah, also I have my Catalina pics up for your enjoyment!

Buddah, we're getting nailed with sleet now. It's making a real racket on the windows and roof.
Most folks complain about the snow but I have to say...it's really pretty. I can't send you snow but I will put up pics soon as I can get my camera out there without getting it wet.

Tina, I'm refinishing part of the wood and painting part. You've probably seen the look in magazines. The dark wood contrasting with the light creme paint is very nice and much brighter.

Seequin! So that's where you've been! Catalina. You lucky girl! yep I'll be over to have a look for sure.

Great staircase, but what a big job... What you've done is awesome.

Uh, Crab, I'm a bit slow (and don't have the good fortune to share a cuppa Joe with you IRL)... we appear to have the same hair color... If I'm not mistaken in this, spook on over to an old post at my place on being a red-head.

Wise one, you are dead on. I checked out your post and boy did you bring back memories.

I was teased so badly I started coloring my hair by the time I was 12. Now I'm back to red and proud of it.

Sweet! I plan on checking the game out myself.

I am getting ready to post pics of my snow and ICE! yukko

I fun with the snow and don't slide on the ice!

I like the looks of the stairs.

At 2/13/2007 7:22 PM, Blogger SignGurl

My sister's stairs look exactly like yours. I'll have to tell her to get to work.

I know that you could beat me in Sudoku. I totally suck at it.

Well done, great work, one of my favourtie subjcts at High School was woodwork, followed closely by Sheetmetal Work, Electrical Workshop Practice and of course, Creative Arts. As I got more into the Higher School years, I had to do only sciences, biology, maths a and maths b and physics to get into my nursing degree at University.
Keep up the good work.

*Ok, first, I must say, I always love the little "Moos" down at the bottom where we comment-- it just makes my day*

I LOVE the snow. I'm so torn. I just visited a friends' blog, and it was 70 where she is (I love the warmth) but I really like snow, too!

Anyway, rock out with the stairs-- although I am an Amitiville Horror fan, so I might've left them the way they were ;0)

Here's a wish for you... from a place that never needs sanding...

You are always looking for something to do, dont you? But you are rigth, those stairs are really dark.

Happy Valentines Day, Sweetie ♥♥♥

Manny, I took night pics. I'll post those today.
PS. We are iced and snowed in here. Drifts in front of the doors and down the stairwell to the basement and too much ice on the drive to get the car out. Guess it's a play day. :)

Nick, I plan to. But nobody has more fun than Lucy. She loves to eat the stuff.

Sign, wait till I finish and send your sis the before and after pics.
See what she thinks.
PS. I'm guessing after last night's sudoku fiasco that you probably have a really good shot at being better than me. LOL!
Yet...bad as I am...I still can't stop competing.

Cazzie, I am sooo getting into the wood stuff. Now that I've gotten sanding and staining down I'm seriously thinking about stripping an old hutch I have and redoing it in some kind of faux old world looking style.
You have a nursing degree? That's cool! Around here we always need medical assistance.

Miss, I can take no credit for those moos. That's Milky's creative techie work. She rocks out at that stuff.
I thought about moving to some place warmer but I'd miss the changing seasons too much. You get used to spring rebirth, fall colors, and cuddle nights by the fire with a good book and pot of stew on the stove.

Lee Ann, have a fun valentines day. You do know this is a good excuse to eat chocolate, right?

Wizened, I'm pilfering that pic for more wallpaper. LOL! I tried to post at your place but a weird screen came up. I'll give it another go in a little while.

Mone, true. My feet and hands are always moving. LOL! Those stairs are sooo dark. And because our house is in the woods we get lots of shadows cast from the tall trees so that makes it even darker.
I already replaced the front door with a lead glass one to let light in so that helped a lot.
Happy Valentines Day right back at ya, baby!

I'm so glad you are excited about snow. We've been getting a lot of that crap here in Kansas and so far I don't like it.

It's so cold today I'm pretty sure I saw a penguin in the neighbor's yard doing a little happy dance.
